Carrie and the BIG bubble

A generation of women were bombarded by stilettos, fashion labels, mind blowing sex and that elusive thing called love.  There were episodes, seasons, re runs, then re runs of re runs. It dint end there we had the movie , the sequel and a very unnecessary sequel to a sequel.

Of course, I am talking about Carrie and the larger than life” Mr. BIG.

I watched it all, but in esrever
(OK for those who are upset about the typo above that was reverse spelt in reverse). I watched the sequel to the movie, followed by the movie, then later the series.

It makes perfect sense. When I had a life I dint need Carrie. I was Carrie and Samantha and the rest of them put together. If Northface is a fashion statement then I had tons of that too. Oh! I even had a Mr Big…or maybe lets call him Mr Bug. When life became less exciting I needed to relive my wow days vicariously. SATC had the energy, the power, the hot men and it was legal. I watched episode after episode, back to back.

It also appealed to the hopeless romantic in me, the part seeking happily ever afters. Carrie… at 40 you got it all baby… the wardrobe too! The wait was surely worth it.

Then in 2010 I met the real Carrie Bradshaw. Candace Bushnell.
She unceremoniously burst my bubble. She dint marry Mr Big.

In real life she has her own “so far, so good” marriage with a principle dancer of NY Ballet. None of the Mr Big bubble to that ballet story. As she spoke about it, even she knew her real love story  captivates none. It had none of the foolishness we love.

So this Apana Talks is to all women (and men) who loved the comfort of seeing Carrie with Big. Did I just burst your bubble?

Smiles, light n hugs
“I will never be the woman with the perfect hair, who can wear white and not spill on it.”
